As I was researching my topic for next weeks seminar talk entitled: Interface Usability, designer and user, I found this really interesting link (which can be found below) that really opened my eyes to how restrictive and emotionally unengaged desktop interfaces are and how little they have developed throughout the last 10 years. Why is interface display so rigid? What is it so impersonal? Can it be changed so as to be more personal and help us carry out our tasks in a more effective maner?

Great!
ReplyDeleteAbout a year ago when I was rethinking a desktop metaphor in my previous course, I came up with nearly exactly the same idea!!! I was brainstorming with my friends how could file structure on your GUI be more similar to 3D reality! This talk is really amazing, cause I feel as if someone looked into my brain and created a prototype out of my thoughts :-)
Yea it was pretty cool, especially the feature of hanging documents of importance or of current relevance so the user would remember. I really feel that all desktop design is too informal and 2 Dimensional. If we are going to break the barriers between the real world and computers, we must start making interface design more personal and mirror the real world
